Board member for Northern Ireland.

Norman Richardson is a Senior Lecturer in Religious Studies and Co-ordinator for Diversity & Mutual Understanding Programmes at Stranmillis University College, Belfast, where most of his current work is with student teachers. A former school teacher, he has also worked for an educational NGO and in the Queen’s University of Belfast.

His teaching focuses on areas such as cultural and religious diversity, citizenship, human rights, global awareness and values in education, at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, and he has written articles, books and school curriculum resources. He has been particularly concerned to promote inclusive approaches to the content and teaching of Religious Education in schools. He is currently the Secretary of the (UK) Association of University Lecturers in Religion and Education (AUL:RE) and a member of the Editorial Board of the British Journal of Religious Education. Other involvements include the Northern Ireland Inter-Faith Forum, of which he is Secretary, and the Corrymeela Community of Reconciliation, of which he has been a long-term member. Alongside his professional involvements he is also an active musician.
