Board member for the Finnish Orthodox Church

Joensuun ja Ateenan yliopisto-opisto-opiskelujen jälkeen olen työskennellyt kaksi lukuvuotta Joensuun normaalikoulun ort.uskonnon tuntiopettajana 1980-luvun lopulla. Siitä alkaen olen hoitanut nykyistä tehtävääni Joensuun yliopiston soveltavan kasvatustieteen ortodoksisen uskonnon didaktiikan lehtoraattia. Oman uskonnon opettamisen haasteena ja tutkimuksen kohteena on ollut TVT:n käyttö opetuksessa, jonka tueksi OrtoWeb sai alkunsa 1997. Olen Suomen ortodoksisen kirkon uskonnonopetuksen neuvottelukunnan puheenjohtaja ja uskonnonopettajien kouluttajien verkoston (USKONET) koordinaattori.

After my studies in Finland and Greece (Athens University, Faculty of Theology) I've been working for a couple of years as a part time Orthodox RE teacher at Joensuu University's Teacher Training School (so called Normal School). Now, I've worked my way back to a senior lecturership in Orthodox didactics at the University of Joensuu (Faculty of Education, Department of Applied Education). The lectureship in Orthodox RE teacher training is the only one among the Finnish universities. My pedagogical challenge and research target has been the implementation of ICT in Orthodox RE in Finland. It came up due to find ways to multiply the ways of education among the members of a minority religion at schools and to help teachers e.g. to differentiate teaching in heterogeneous groups and to share updated and interactive material via net. Thus the OrtoWeb together with the teacher was launched in 1997. For the moment I am the president of the consultative committee of RE in the Finnish Orthodox Church and the coordinator of the network of RE didactic lectures at the Finnish universities.
