This will look at the core functions of the iPad, how to set up some accounts, and also a look at some of the in-built affordances of the device (e.g. the camera) as well as looking at setting up apps, using folders, connecting to the world etc..

Office type apps. Apps that allow you to make notes, prepare text, make slides and presentations. Including Evernote, Pages, Keynote, Numbers, SlideRocket and Paper as well as Google Docs. Apps vary in cost some are free.

Making Movies. Looking at iMovie (and a couple of other camera apps) that allow you to make simple movies on your device. Movie apps vary in price.

Making Books. Using the App Book Creator we will explore how to make simple eBooks. Book Creator is free to make 1 book or you can buy this for only £4 (or two cups of coffee!). We will also look at the iBooks app.

Working with a class. This will look at the app Nearpod and the options to develop and create presentations taht you can control whilst setting up tasks and quizzes for your class. This app is free.

The best app ever? This will look at the app Explain Everything a really useful app for making video and presentations, developing resources, and for developing the models of the flipped classroom. This app is £3.

Presentations are great, prezis are wonderful! A new way of thinking about presentations that also makes you think about the way your present. Prezis can be made on-line and then shown on your Pad. This app is free.

Cloud Storage. Accessing materials can be an issue with tablet devices as can sharing materials - this session will explore some of the more useful on-line storage such as dropbox and google drive (both these apps are free).

19th November

Local file storage. As well as storing materials on the cloud it is also useful to be able to store materials. We will look at an app called Good Reader (£4) and some free alternatives.
