The National Community Forum

The Department for Communities and Local Government is looking for up to 8 new members and 1 Chair to join their National Community Forum. Set up five years ago, the Forum provides an opportunity to bring community voices to national government, acting as a sounding board for Ministers and civil servants. The Forum's policy remit spans neighbourhood renewal, community participation and empowerment. Individuals are being sought who can speak confidently about the issues that matter to local communities and who can work with other members, government officials and Ministers to find solutions to these problems.

Forum members will be required to contribute approximately 12 days a year (20 days for the Chair) which will include time spent at residential meetings, attending subgroup meetings, reading papers and possibly preparing reports. Forum members will receive £163 per day plus expenses and the Chair will receive £213 per day plus expenses. Appointments are expected to be for three years with an option for re-appointment after that.

An information pack and application form for the Forum can be found at www.communities.gov.uk/corporate/jobscontracts/generalecruitment/current-vacancies/nationalcommunityforum. The closing date for applications is 4 October.

Best wishes
