IslamExpo
is a non-profit organisation based in the United Kingdom dedicated
to enhancing understanding of Islam in Britain and building bridges
between the Muslim world and the West. The event is made up of a
mix of exhibitions, demonstrations, seminars, lectures, theatre
and film shows. There is also the option to participate in a variety
of workshops specifically designed with school pupils in mind. IslamExpo
provides schools with an opportunity to discover some of Islam’s
greatest but hidden treasures. IslamExpo is taking place from 11-14
July 2008 at Olympia, London. |

In
the speech by the minister (Jim Knight) to the conference he said
"Finally, I can also announce today that we will begin
a consultation on updating the current guidance on RE ... In doing
so, we will separate guidance on RE from guidance on collective
worship, as the faith and belief communities and RE professionals
have asked. We will not review collective worship guidance for now,
while we focus on RE. But that is something that we will consider
doing in the future" This is something
that could be discussed in order to make representation to the DCFS. |

This
is the 16th analysis of annual reports of the Standard Advisory
Councils on Religious Education (SACRE) carried out by the Qualifications
and Curriculum Authority (QCA). It is a summary of the work that
SACREs have undertaken during the academic year 2005/6. |

This
is the time of year when those who have the job of writing SACRE
annual reports begin to think about planning a draft document for
presentation at their autumn SACRE meeting. Consequently Mark Chater
at QCA and we at NASACRE have been asked about the format for reporting
this year. |

Islam
Awareness Week (IAW) started in 1994 as a national project aiming
to help remove misconceptions about Islam and build links between
communities - by celebrating art and culture and by getting people
to work together for the common good. Over the years IAW has been
taken up across Britain by individuals and organisations from a
whole spectrum of backgrounds from schools, colleges and universities
to local authorities such as Camden Council, to institutions such
as the Globe Theatre and the Greater London Authority. In 2005 IAW
received the Muslim News award for Excellence in Community Relations.
This year the theme for IAW is: One World: Our Children, Our Future.
We all live, work and play on the same shared Earth. In this increasingly
interconnected world, all our futures are tied together |

Fasting
to Remember: described as: 'an initiative aimed at uniting
people of different faiths and backgrounds through a National
Day of Fasting to raise money for charity. It is an effort to
show that diverse communities can get together in an atmosphere
of mutual understanding and for a good cause. Pupils, teachers,
head teachers and the whole school community are invited to join
in the fast and raise money for charity. All the money raised
will benefit charitable causes'.

to Remember Project is separate from Islam Awareness Week and
