The SRSP materials can be linked to both the Religious Education and the Science Curriculums.

The developments in the curriculum in England mean that there is more scope the use of the SRSP materials in both the primary and the secondary curriculums. There is a move away from teaching which focuses on the teaching of subjects and more which focuses on the teaching of skills of cognition and meta-cognition. This approach is very suited to the use of the SRSP materials as they develop core skills of interpretation, critical awareness, analysis and comparison of truth claims.

At the core of the new curriculum are the Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS). The SRSP materials are well placed to support teachers in developing all of these.

Independent Enquirers
Creative Thinkers
Reflective Learners
The SRSP materials require the students to identify and engage with core questions of meaning. They must analyse and evaluate the truth claims from both disciplines and consider the influence of circumstances, beliefs and feelings on events. They must support their conclusions using reasoned arguments and evidence.
The SRSP materials require the students to find different ways in which to tackle the problems they are faced with, they need to find imaginative solutions and outcomes that are of value to themselves. They need to make connections between the truth claims of science and those of religion looking for similarities and differences. They must be willing to question assumptions, try out new ideas and adapt thier ideas as circumstances change.
The SRSP materials require the students to set realistic goals with criteria for success. They should invite feedback from their teachers and peers and evaluate their knowledge to inform future progress. They are asked to communicate their learning via a number of mediums to some how this is effective for different audiences.
Team Workers
Self-Managers
Effective Participants
The SRSP materials require the students to work in pairs and in groups. They will be expected to engage in discussion, dialogue and debate in order to reach managed conclusions. They will have to take responsibility for their and others learning and provide feedback from their learning to their teachers and peers.
The SRSP materials require the students to work independently organising their own time and resources. They will need to anticipate, take and manage risks. They will need to balance their personal feelings and beliefs with the new knowledge they are being challenged with.
The SRSP materials require the students to engage with the issues from the two disciplines of science and religion. They will need to be able to develop a persuasive case for engagement from both disciplines even if these are counter to their personal beliefs and act as an advocate for views and beliefs that may differ from their own. They will need in discussion, dialogue and debate need to influence others negotiating and balancing diverse views to reach workable solutions.
