Masters in Pedagogy and Practice Journal Clubs for teachers
We are developing a Masters degree that is rooted in the work you do in your classrooms. This is aimed at teachers with 60 M level credits from their PGCE (or other) who want to progress and do research that impacts on their practice. There is a growing interest in looking at research and a growing demand that teachers are "research savvy" (Carter Review, Jan 2015) we would like to start some journal clubs - contact p.hopkins@hull.ac.uk for more details.

Teachers as researchers
Dr Julia Lawrence

Key to educational change are teachers and other professionals who act as link pins to educational reform (Cochran-Smith and Lyte, 2009). Explicit within English initial teacher training is an emphasis on evidence based practice and how it can be used to support changes (Carter, 2015).  Thus as teachers we are increasingly encouraged to reflect on practice and identify ways in which this can be modified to impact positively on pupil progress.

This presentation looks at the role of the teacher as researcher through the development of reflective practitioners, who challenge existing knowledge in an attempt to build their own evidence bases.
